  i was baptized 30 years ago and have been in the faith for over 35 years.. our organization isn't perfect.

  but i'm sick to death of seeing stereotypes about us.

  Flat earth vs round earth

  my brother has been talking about the earth being flat and some big conspiracy going on to make people beieve otherwise.

  what are people's thoughts on this?.

  of course the earth is flat.

  but the good news Gahd is going to destroy all the wicked people on it--very soon---except for a few ( million ) righteous believers who will inherit this flat earth and live on it forever.

  there is a sentence in the bible that confirms this.

  i was 23 --married--with our first kid on the way. i thought long and hard about the blood issue---and knew it was wrong. i would never stand in the way of any kid of mine getting a t'f if it was necessary.

  the more i thought about it--the more i realised i never believed in god--or any of the watchtower crap. armageddon was only 4 years away! ( this was 1971) resurrection is just bullshit.

  i had already given up door knocking, i hated attending the meetings.

  one day i was scheduled to do the public talk--some scripted rubbish about a wide mouthed cooking pot --FFS.

  my eyesight blurred as i read it--i felt sick at the thought of standing there delivering the talk. then i snapped---phoned the overseer ( ex branch servant or summat ) went to see him--blurted the lot out--and that was the end of it.

  it is christmas morning ....the weather outside looks cold grey and dismal (typical britain in winter ) the house is quiet as my wife gets on with something.

  .... the street is silent, as dead as the grave.

  the tv is full of the purile nonsense that fills airtime this time of year .

  well--ive been up since 6. drove my wife to work---a 13 hour shift in charge of a care home. but tomorrow we are off to England to stay with my son ( d/f ) and family. he loves christmas--goes overboard big time. he is doing so well in life since he severed the link to the cult. they recently enjoyed a holiday in the Maldives......

  first half is very much in the style of a watchtower magazine--so boring i nearly chucked it away. go to half way through---then i couldnt put it down.

  Do CO's get a check each time they have a convention?

  during our weekend convention with the co i noticed he gets his expenses paid for.

  my question is if the co then summits another expense report on the following day?

  the circuit is split in a and b, so therefore the co meets with the other half the next day.

  swerving off topic a bit...ive read on here about circuit assembly finances--how the watchtower charges so much £/$ per head and collects thousands each time an assembly hall is used. how does it work with big assemblies where the site rent has to be paid ? do they still hold giant international assemblies ?

  counties once at war with one another can forgive and move on.

  even horrible murderers who killed the family members of someone can be forgiven for the act that they did.. but god, no no no.

  my wife has held onto them like they were family heirlooms.

  we are cleaning and clearing out accumulated stuff and i pointed out that there is the cd-rom library now and that the society has made revisions and really doesn't want us to be reading the old stuff.

  she said that even though there have been changes to the teachings, the wrong understanding served its' purpose at the time.

  when i cleared my late fathers house--i dumped over 50 years worth of magazines. i found them all over his house. stored in cereal boxes. also a stack of books--and a large box of congregation records.

  i wouldnt demean myself to sell watchtower rubbish on ebay..i dont need that sort of dirty money.
